Okay, so I nearly forgot to post part two! Sorry about that. Only discovered it when I was looking for a subject to write about for today’s post. 😊

Anyway, so here’s part two of how to repurpose everyday items and save money in your home.

Mismatched Socks

As a Dust Rag

Slip a single sock over your hand and use it to dust blinds, skirting (base) boards, ceiling fans or light bulbs (whilst switched off). You can also use it to clean your car interior.

Sock Puppet or toy

The more creative of you can turn it into a sock puppet or sew it into a sock monkey or rabbit.  There are some great tutorials online that show you how to do this.

Phone or Glasses Case

Cut it to size and sew off one end to create a phone or glasses soft case. The sock will also make a great cleaning cloth for your phone’s surface or glasses.

Pet Toy

Stuff the sock with other old fabric and knot, and give it to your dog or cat as a toy. They’ll love it.

Shoe Polisher

Use it to apply polish or to buff your shoes for the perfect shine.

Hot or Cold Pack

Fill the sock with uncooked rice or flaxseed, tie off and microwave for a hot pack. Or stick it in the freezer to use as a DIY cold pack.

Mothball or Scent Sachet Holder

Fill it with dried lavender (for scent), cedar chips (to deter moths) or baking soda (to absorb smells) and sew or tie off. Place it in drawers, or shoes or in wardrobes.

Floor Protector for Furniture Legs
Cut your sock into small pieces and stretch them over chair or table feet to prevent scratching floors.

Soap Saver
Put leftover bits of soap into a sock and use it as a scrubber to get ingrained dirt off hands.

Arm or Leg Warmer (for Kids or Pets)
Cut off the foot part and use the tube to keep little limbs warm as home-made ankle warmers.

Plastic Grocery Bags

Bin Liners

Use old plastic grocery bags as bin liners in small bins.

Packing Material
Use several bags to cushion fragile items when posting or moving house. Bunch them up for padding.

Dog Waste Bags
Keep some by the door or in your bag for quick and easy clean-up during walks.

Lunch Bag
Reuse as a bag for your lunch or snacks instead of buying new ones.

Knit or Crochet Into “Plarn” (Plastic Yarn)
Cut several bags into strips and make plastic doormats, tote bags, or even baskets.

Umbrella or Shoes Wrap
Keep one in your bag to wrap wet items on rainy days so they don’t soak everything else. This could include umbrellas, shoes or hats.

Car Trash Bag
Hang one on the back of a seat or gear stick for an easy in-car bin solution.

Plant Protection
Protect outdoor plants from frost by covering them with a plastic grocery bag.

Craft Projects or Stuffing
I’m not sure about this one because wouldn’t they crackle? Anyway, you can use plastic bags to stuff pillows, poufs, or DIY projects instead of buying filler.

Reusable Shopping Bag Liner
Place a plastic bag inside a cloth tote bag to catch spills or carry messy groceries such as meat or wet items.

Broken Drawers

Under bed storage

Add wheels or handles to a drawer from an old piece of furniture such as a chest of drawers/dresser and slide under your bed for storage.

Wall Shelves
Mount drawers directly onto the wall (open side facing out) for quirky, rustic shelving. You can even line the back with wallpaper or paint for extra flair.

Planter Boxes
Line the drawers with plastic or coconut liner, drill drainage holes, and turn them into unusual planters for flowers or herbs.

Shadow Box Display
Use a shallow drawer as a shadow box to display collectibles, photos, or memorabilia.

Charging Station
Cut holes in the back for cords and use a drawer to hide your charging electronics neatly in one place.

Jewelry Organizer
Add hooks, fabric, or small dividers to create a stylish place to hang and store jewellery.

Mini Table or Ottoman Base
Attach legs or a cushion top to turn a drawer into a small side table, stool, or footrest with storage inside.

Craft or Tool Organizer
Use on a workbench or craft table to organize supplies like paints, brushes, or screws.

Pet Bed
Add a small cushion or blanket and turn it into a cozy bed for a cat or small dog.

Message Centre
Paint the inside with chalkboard or whiteboard paint, add a few hooks, and hang it by the door as a DIY command center.
